Tera de Marez Oyens Foundation

The Tera de Marez Oyens Foundation was established in 1998. It was the result of a joint initiative of Cor Witbraad (on behalf of copyright supervisor Buma/Stemra), Marten Toonder, and Tera’s children. After her death, they sought for a possibility to keep not only the cultural heritage of Tera alive - through her compositions -, but her ideas as well.

The purpose of the foundation is to encourage composers of contemporary music, and to foster the public interest in the musical heritage of composer Tera de Marez Oyens (born as Woltera Gerharda Wansink on 5 August 1932 in Velsen, the Netherlands).

The foundation strives to accomplish its mission in the following ways:

(a) by issuing an award to composers of contemporary music or to persons and institutes who have gone that extra mile for the promotion of contemporary music in general or the music of composer Tera de Marez Oyens in particular. This award will be made available every two years, if possible.

(b) by organizing and/or by rendering assistance to activities in order to pay extra attention to contemporary music in general and the music of composer Tera de Marez Oyens in particular.
